Science 'Growth' Photo Competition

• Year 5 Bright Sparks

  Each week this term Year 5 are taking part in a ‘Bright Sparks’ initiative with students from Warwick University. The children will be taking part in activities relevant to different times in history. Last week they learnt about the impact of the Romans on engineering in Britain, and had a competition to see which table group could make the strongest bridge- much fun was had! In the coming weeks they will be learning about Parliament and will take part in a court room scene, in addition to aspects of philosophy and medicine. As well as learning historical information, the children will be hearing about the different subjects that can be studied in university, and the opportunities university gives, to inspire them.

• Time to Reflect & Pray

  Pupils at St Osburg’s have participated in two retreats this week. Firstly our Year 5 pupils had an amazing time at Alton Castle and today the chaplaincy team from Cardinal Newman spent the day with Year 6 pupils helping them to reflect and prepare for Confirmation. It is so important that during the busy terms we also make time to spend opening our hearts and minds to the Lord. We thank Him for all the blessings and opportunities that He gives to each one of us.

  

• Sacrament of Confirmation

  We are looking forward to welcoming Bishop Kenney to St Osburg’s parish to confirm 22 of our year 6 pupils on Thursday 21^st January at 7pm. Year 6 have been busy preparing to receive the sacrament and this will include an inspirational, fun filled and reflective retreat day led by Cardinal Newman chaplaincy team and pupils next Friday. We would love to have some children from other year groups in attendance to support Year 6 with the singing and share in this special celebration.
