Year 2

On 9th March, we joined three other schools for a Morning of Music, celebrating Rio 2016. See the video clip of our party piece, based on 'We're Going On A Bear Hunt'!

The children in Year 2 had great fun visiting Tesco as part of their World Kitchen theme and through the Tesco ‘Farm to Fork’ initiative last Tuesday. They visited the bakery, warehouse, freezer and chiller sections-very cold, fish counter and tried 3 different types of cheese. On the shop floor both customers and Tesco staff were impressed with their manners and how well behaved the children were. They also all came back to school with a delicious cupcake! Mrs Freeman and the children also wanted to thank Mrs Oluremi for spending the afternoon with them cooking and providing lots of different tasty pancakes and toppings.

Welcome to Year 2!

Mrs, Freeman, Mrs Hollingsworth, Mrs John and Mr Hancox look forward to working with all the children in Year 2. Any worries or problems please speak to Learning Mentors in the morning or myself on Monday and Tuesdays after school.

Our theme topics this term will be about the history of bicycles and Florence Nightingale and Mary Seacole. In Science we will look at electricity and using everyday materials.

Please try to read as often as possible with your child and make sure that their reading books are in school everyday! The local and central libraries often have interesting reading events and many are free!

Let's make this an exciting learning year for your child!

The children have all been set tasks on  the "Mathletics" site. This is free to use as school as paid for the children to use at home and school. Its a fun way for children to improve their maths on their computer, Ipad or tablet. I will send out password and log in details before end of term.

Please let me know if you any problems with the password or log in details for Mathletics.

Have fun with maths!

The children have been very busy rehearsing for our Christmas play "The Hoity Toity Angel".

This week they need to bring in something to wear on their head -it could be a Christmas hat, Christmas headband or simply tinsel that we can cut to fit around their head. It would help if it was brought in a named carrier bag.

Thank you and look forward to seeing you on Tues 8th December at 9:30 when we perform the play for you.
