Homework has been set as independent study on LBQ this week. Please see the email containing the SATs parents' information pdf which includes the log in code. All children have received their log in details; if children have an issue logging in with their names, please use the QR code to log on.

Monday - Read the text attached on Ernest Shackleton and answer the questions. Find Antarctica on a map/globe- search for some pictures of the land on Antarctica.
Thursday/Friday- Write a setting description and character description using the attached document.
English: Plan and write your own ending to the story of Hansel & Gretel. We have read up to the part where the children trick the witch into thinking that Hansel isn't growing fatter.
Write 5 plot points to continue the story.
Include examples of: semi-colons, modal verbs, sentences beginning with a sub-ordinating conjunction as well as showcasing all of the writing rules that you know.
Day 1 plan, day 2 write first draft, day 3 edit work using a different coloured pen.

I would like you to research two of the significant black females who paved the way for Kamala: Rosa Parks and Ruby Bridges. HOMEWORK
Homework for Year 6 will go home on a Tuesday and should be returned on the following Monday. Children will take home a maths sheet to practise the skills that we have been learning that week. They are also expected to read independently (once/twice a week to an adult), and they have a login to Timestables Rockstars where they can practise their times-tables daily. From next week, they will also bring home a reading comprehension to complete. Spelling tests are usually on a Friday- the spellings will be sent home on a Tuesday after we have learnt them in school.

I am really hoping you will be able to help me?
Since we returned to school a few weeks ago I have noticed there are a few things that need improving around school but I don’t really know where to start!
Last week I had a chat with your class about applying for the roles of Head Boy and Head Girl as well as School Council and the responsibilities involved… I’m hoping they are ready and willing to apply as I could really do with their help and I’m in desperate need of some fresh ideas J.
I look forward to reading through the applications and along with yourself, Mr Jordan and Mrs Rynott, can’t wait to pick our ‘dream team’ of proactive, thoughtful and fun to be around candidates.

Today's lessons are P.E and English. For P.E complete one of Joe Wicks' lesson you tube. I will include a link below.
Our English lesson is number 3 from Mrs C; please send your writing to me as I will be sharing some of them with Mrs C.
Learningfor today. Have a go at following the Mrs C live lesson for English. Chot your notes, and write your sentences (any paper will do). Beware- some biscuits may be eaten during the course of this lesson!
Sketch the skyline of Coventry. Look at the shapes that the buildings are made up of.
Sketch the skyline of Coventry using a pencil. Use the shapes within the buildings to help you to create the drawing. Look at the triangles, rectangles and circles that make up the buildings. Shade it using pencil crayons; you could choose to use vibrant colours like those in the pictures.

The Boy at the Back of the Class: Completed!
Well done on finishing this text! I hope that you enjoyed the story. I was surprised by the twist at the end. I have attached some reading and writing activities on these last chapters for you to complete by Monday 29th June.

I hope that you are enjoying the sun and have been reading our class text. The new activities are above for you to try. I am loving this book and will definitely be looking at other books from this author, Onjali Q. Rauf.
Remember to keep practising your maths work too by using the TimesTables Rockstars page and trying out some of the Oak Academy maths lessons. I will re-post the link.
As it is half-term this week, I won't set any activities for you to complete!
During the course of the week, read chapters 9-15 of the book and I will put the activities online on Monday June 1st.

I hope you have enjoyed the chapters so far! I loved meeting the characters, Tom, Josie, Michael and Ahmet! I found it hard to work out the narrators name? I thought it was lovely how he thought about the feelings of the new boy, Ahmet, and winked at him! Jennie doesn't sound too kind though! And what does seclusion mean? Where do you think that Ahmet goes?
I've attached the quiz and the writing activities- have a go at them and email pictures or documents of your work to me by Friday :)
On Friday, I will put up the new chapters for you to read.

Welcome to our class read for the Summer Term!
Some of you already have either collected or had delivered your own copy of the book- these are for you to keep!
Once you have got your book, read chapters 1-3 by Tuesday. Check back in on this page and there will be a little quiz to answer on the chapters and a writing activity for you to try .
If you don't have your book, it may be delivered this weekend. If it isn't, please collect from the school office on Monday. Any problems with this, let the office know on Monday.
I will be reading the same chapters as you! I'm looking forward to finding out, who this boy is, does he have friends, why is he at the back of the class?
